グラフトンはもう誰も住んでいないゴーストタウンです。 Grafton is a ghost town where no one lives anymore.
今は史跡になっているので、綺麗に手入れされてました。 It is now an historic site and is maintained well.
私たちは鳥に会いたくてここを訪れました。小さい鳥が遠くの方で朝ごはん探しに忙しそうでした。 We came here to see birds. Many small bird were busy looking for breakfast in the distance.
でも、私の目的はただ一つ。ベニタイランチョウをカメラに収める事です。 But I had only one goal. To capture a Vermilion Flycatcher on my camera.
前回、一度撮れたんですが、有刺鉄線に止まっている姿だったので、なんとか自然の中の姿を撮りたいと思っていました。 I was able to capture it once last time, but it was perched on a barbed wire, so I wanted to capture it in its natural habitat somehow.
でも、遠すぎて、しかも三脚なしで重い400mmレンズを持って撮るのは、私にはかなり難しい作業でした。ようやく撮れた、成長しきってないベニタイランチョウ。くちばしに何か咥えています。 But it was too far away, and also taking pictures with a heavy 400mm lens without a tripod was quite a difficult task for me. Finally, I was able to take this photo of an first-year Vermilion Flycatcher. It is holding something in its beak.
ここから私のパパラッチの始まりです。牛が美味しそうに野草を食べている近くです。ということは、ハエがたくさんいるということです。場所の条件は整いました。 This was where my paparazzi began. It was near a cow eating delicious wild grass. That means there are a lot of flies. The conditions for the location were great.
この鳥の日本語名を聞くだけでは分かりませんが、この鳥の英語名は「ハエを取る鳥」という意味です。まさにハエを加えていたんですね。こちらはその後、ハエを食べちゃうところのショットです。小さいのでわかるかな。 It is hard to tell just by listening to the Japanese name of this bird, but the English name of this bird means “a bird that catches flies.” So that is exactly what it was doing. Here are a series of shots, eating the fly afterwards. It is small, so I hope you can understand.
