レシピとレシピスタンド Recipe & Recipe Stand

オーブンと電子レンジが故障してから、18日が経ちました。修理の予定はまだ立っていません。　It has been 18 days since our oven and microwave broke down. No repairs have been scheduled yet.

その間、やっぱりオーブンなしではできないレシピがありまして、困っています。　In the meantime, I am still having trouble with some recipes that I can’t do without an oven.

ミールキットを使っているので、週1回、8食分の材料が送られてきます。キットを使い始めた理由は、仕事ばかりしていて料理ができなかったので、あらゆる種類の料理を学習するためです。　I subscribe to a meal kit, so once a week I receive 8 servings worth of ingredients. The reason I started using the kits is to learn all kinds of cooking because before I retired I was working all the time and not cooking.

それから4年が経ち、ミールキットの会社も3回変えました。 Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, Marly Spoon, それぞれに違うレシピがあり難易度も違うので、勉強になりました。　Four years later, I have changed meal kit companies three times. Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, and Marly Spoon, each with different recipes and different levels of difficulty, so I learned a lot.

そして今、料理の基本はわかるようになりました。そして、料理だけでなく、私たちの食の好みもわかってきたし、私自身、調理時間はせいぜい1時間、もう2時間以上もかかる料理はしたくないです。だからいつ辞めてもいいんですが、必要な材料がパックされて玄関に届く便利さは手放しにくいです。　And now I know the basics of cooking. And not only do I know how to cook, but I also know our food preferences, and I myself don’t want to cook something that takes at most an hour to cook, and no longer more than two hours. So I don’t mind quitting anytime, but it’s hard to give up the convenience of having the ingredients I need packed and delivered to my door.

今は3社の中でも一番簡単にできるレシピが多いHello Fresh に戻りました。　I have now returned to Hello Fresh, which has the easiest recipes of the three companies.

ただ、オーブンなしではできないメニューも入っているので、すでにオーダー済みの分は適当に自分料理に変更していました。ちょっときついです。　However, some menu items were included that did call for using the oven to bake the food, so I had to change the method of cooking with my best improvisation. It is a bit tough.

今晩もオーブンを使う料理ですね。またもや私のいい加減料理かぁ。レシピ立てのアザラシ君、笑ってる？　It requires cooking with the oven again this evening. My lame cooking again… Are you laughing at me, Mr. Seal, who is making up the recipe stand.

ところで、このメニュー立てですが、もともと空き箱を使って5分で作りました。　By the way, this menu stand was originally made in 5 minutes using an empty box.

自分で使うだけだから、どうでも良かったので超いい加減です。が、やはり、気になって、数年前に撮ったアザラシ君の写真を使って、ちょっとマシなものに仕上げました。　It’s just for my own use, so I didn’t really care about it, so it’s super sloppy. However, the sloppiness bothered me, so I used a photo of a seal I took a few years ago to make it look a little better.

この前の日曜日、スクリーンフリーの時間に何をしようかと考えていたら、机の左下のこんな風景に目が止まりました。　This past Sunday, as I was thinking about what I was going to do during my screen-free time, my eyes caught this view in the lower left corner of my desk.

そこで、このファイルキャビネットの引き出しを片付けて、緑の引き出しの中身を全部移動する事にしました。　So I decided to clean out the drawers of this file cabinet and move all the contents of the green drawers.

その為には、キャビネット側の引き出しをセイルしやすくする必要があります。 To do that, the drawers on the cabinet side needed to change a little.

早速、お得意の箱つくり。生憎、日曜日はここで時間切れとなりました。 I immediately started making boxes, a specialty of mine. Unfortunately, time ran out on Sunday.

翌日、再びスタートさせましたが、水張りテープがなくなってしまい、ここでストップ。 The next day, I started it again, but stopped here because the water activated tape ran out.

その後、バンちゃんの所用で、お抱え運転手となりました。（彼は足の手術で、今年の始めから運転できません。）だから、昨日はこれで終了でした。 Later, I became a chauffeur for Banchan’s errands. (He has been unable to drive since the beginning of this year due to foot surgery.) So that was it for yesterday.

そして今日、未完成でも、とりあえず物を入れて見る事にしました。全部スッキリ入りましたね。しかも、まだ余裕。 And today, even though it’s not finished, I decided to put things in it anyway to see what it looks like. Everything went in nicely. And there is still room.

机の下も、緑の箱ケースがなくなったので、少しスッキリしました。 Under the desk is also a little cleaner now that the green box case is gone.

私の巨大なギークデスクも少しは片付きました。 My huge geek desk is a bit tidier now.

ちなみに、今日は快晴です。この窓から見える景色好きです。 By the way, it is a beautiful sunny day. I like the view from this window.

もう1つおまけはこちら。 Here’s one more extra.

去年、作りまくったコースターの山です。4月ごろから再び土曜日のマーケットで売り始めようと思ってます。それまでは押し入れにしまっておいてもいいのですが、まだ、ぐずぐずしています。来週のスクリーンフリーデーの課題ですかね。 Here’s the pile of coasters I made all last year, I’m planning to start selling them again around April at the Saturday market. Until then, I can keep them in the closet, but I’ve been a bit lazy. I guess that’s the challenge for next week’s Screen Free Day.

さて、これから走ってきます。　Well, I’m going to go for a run now.

面白すぎて止まらない Too Fun to Stop Now

毎日が飛ぶようにすぎていってしまうのは、エベレスト山より高く積まれているやってみたい事があるからでしょう。 Every day flies by, probably because there are things I want to do that are piled higher than Mount Everest.

でも、明日から旅に出るので、小休止です。旅の目的はキンセアニェーラに参加するためです。キンセアニェーラとは、ラテン系の国々で催されている儀式で、15歳の少女の誕生日を祝う祝賀会です。 But I am taking a short break because I will be traveling tomorrow. The purpose of my trip is to participate in a quinceañera. A quinceañera is a ceremony held in Latin countries to celebrate the birthday of a 15-year-old girl.

一度も参加した事も、見たこともなかったので、楽しみです。プレゼントなど、何もいらないと言われたのですが、多分、そうはいかないだろうと思い、彼女が好きな色をテーマにkカードを作りました。 I had never attended or seen one before, so I was looking forward to it. Her sister told me that they don’t want any gifts or anything, but I figured that it doesn’t work that way. So I made her a card in her favorite color theme.

スワロスフスキーを貼り付けるのが一番大変でした。Gluing the Swarovski pieces was the toughest.

また、彼女はクマが大好きだということなので、運がいい。私のクマのコースターセットをつけました。 She also loves bears, so we are in luck. I will give her my bear coaster set.

このカード作りで1日が終わってしまったので、楽しみにしていた私のプロジェクト達は、来週までお預けです。 Since this card making has taken up the whole day, my projects, which I was looking forward to, will have to wait until next week.

木製のコースターに樹脂を流し込んで固めたらこれなりに良いコースターができるんじゃないかと閃きました。それを今日試してみたかった!　I came up with the idea that if I poured resin into a wooden coaster and hardened it, I could make a good coaster in this way. That’s what I wanted to try out today!

その他にも、友人が試してみては？と提案してくれたデコパージュ、などなど。試してみたい物がありすぎて、夜も眠れない。 I want to try other things, like decoupage, etc., which a friend suggested me. There are so many things I want to try out that I can’t sleep at night.

花畑 Field of Flowers

時間がある時に少しづつデイジーを編んでみました。 I crocheted daisies a little at a time when I had time.

気がついたら、ダイニングテーブルが花畑になっていました。 The dining table was full of flowers before I knew it.

鍋つかみです。でも、主に電子レンジでお茶用に水を沸かすときによく使います。 They are pot holders. But we use them for a variety of purposes such as holding a cup after boiling water for tea time.

また、朝、オートミールを作る時。 Or I use it when I make a bowl of oatmeal for my breakfast.

その他、タッパウエアに入れた残り物を電子レンジでチンして、そのまま食べる時にも。 Or, we use them a lot when we eat leftovers in Tupperware containers.

友人に差し上げたtくて編んでいたら、もっともっと綺麗な色の組み合わせがありそうで、気がついたら20枚も。4枚はすでに差し上げました。 I wanted to give them to my friends. I discovered nice color combinations while I was crocheting. So I tried new colors for the next daisy, and more new colors for more new daisies. I made 20 of them and gave away four already.

どれも自分で編んだから気に入ってます。これからどれをどなたに差し上げようか考えるのも楽しいです。 I love them all because I made them. It will be very difficult to decide which one I am going to give to who, but that is part of the fun!
