花畑 Field of Flowers

時間がある時に少しづつデイジーを編んでみました。 I crocheted daisies a little at a time when I had time.

気がついたら、ダイニングテーブルが花畑になっていました。 The dining table was full of flowers before I knew it.

鍋つかみです。でも、主に電子レンジでお茶用に水を沸かすときによく使います。 They are pot holders. But we use them for a variety of purposes such as holding a cup after boiling water for tea time.

また、朝、オートミールを作る時。 Or I use it when I make a bowl of oatmeal for my breakfast.

その他、タッパウエアに入れた残り物を電子レンジでチンして、そのまま食べる時にも。 Or, we use them a lot when we eat leftovers in Tupperware containers.

友人に差し上げたtくて編んでいたら、もっともっと綺麗な色の組み合わせがありそうで、気がついたら20枚も。4枚はすでに差し上げました。 I wanted to give them to my friends. I discovered nice color combinations while I was crocheting. So I tried new colors for the next daisy, and more new colors for more new daisies. I made 20 of them and gave away four already.

こちらは裏。 These are the back faces.

どれも自分で編んだから気に入ってます。これからどれをどなたに差し上げようか考えるのも楽しいです。 I love them all because I made them. It will be very difficult to decide which one I am going to give to who, but that is part of the fun!

色々なことがありましたが、それらを書き綴る代わりに最後のブログを書きます。

このサイトに触発されて、観葉植物の鉢カバーを作って見ました。

コードを埋め込んで編むので形が崩れません。全て細編みです。

上の白い部分はこんなに丸くするつもりはなかったのですが、ふんわりとした雰囲気が出たので、結果オーライとします。（日本で流行りの言葉を使って見ました。もう廃れてるのかな？）

古い鉢は色が剥げてきてしまったので、庭で使うことにします。

古い余り毛糸とちょっと硬めのコードで、簡単にできてしまうプロジェクト、好きです。

来年もこんな予期せぬプロジェクトを突然することでしょう。短い人生、楽しくやろうね！

これからモントレーに年末年始、ダンスパーティーに出かけます。では、よいお年を！

Hawaii trip addendum: crochet

The plane ride took about 5.5 hours from San Francisco Airport to Kailua-Kona airport.
So what do you do during the ride in the plane?
Ever since I have discovered the joy of knitting/crochet, I couldn’t think of any other things to do but this. This is the result from the flights.

It’s a pot holder, about 7 inches diameter.  Crochet 2 flowers, then stitched together with a different color yarn.  It’s a perfect mini project to work in a 5 hours plane rides.  The pattern was from this book.

It’s pretty and so useful, I use it everyday for carrying a microwaved frozen dinner or any heated dishes, and then place it on my desk as a hot plate mat.  As a matter of fact, I am using now, writing this blog while eating dinner.  It adds a cheerful feeling to my desk.  (of course, I use my dining table… every once in a while when I have guests.)

飛行機の中での時間の使い方。編み物を今年の初めからスタートして飛行機の中ではこれしかないと思うようになりました。だって動けないでしょ？でも始めたら止まらないものはやっぱり編み物ね。コナ空港までの5.5時間の往復でバッチリ出来上がり。その間、映画を見る時間だってあったもん。

2枚の花柄を編んで、別の色の毛糸で2枚を縫い合わせるように編んでいくだけ。いろいろな方々がこの編み物図を紹介してくださっているようです。この本からアイディアをいただきました。

もう毎日使ってます。冷凍の食べ物をチンして、このポットホルダーで熱々をそのまま机まで持っていくんです。今まさにそんなことして食べながらこのブログ書いてます。寂しい食生活にちょっと花が咲きます・・・かな？
