雨が降り続いていました。COVID-19のニュースも聞き飽きたし・・・ – It’s been raining every day.  We were tired of the COVID-19 news as well.

ちょうどエアポケットのように雨が止んだ時、山に登って見ました。 – We went up a hill when the clouds opened above us and the rain stopped briefly.

Mojave Desert Joshua Tree Road はジャケット2枚重ねても寒いほどの高度。 – Mojave Desert Joshua Tree Road goes up high enough that it was cold even with two jackets on.

指が凍りつきそうでもシャッターを押し続けた。 – We kept pushing the shutter button repeatedly, even though our fingers became like frozen sticks.

もう、カメラの調整ができない。あたりは暗くなっていた。 – It was already dark when I realized that it was hard to control my camera.

これが帰り支度を始める前の最後のショット。 – I though this was my last shot before packing things up to go back to our car.

でも「後ろ見てごらん。」とバンちゃんが言ったので振り向いて見た。 – But suddenly Banchan said “Look behind you!”  I did.

うひゃ〜！空が燃えていた。 Wow!  The sky was on fire.
