アラスカ旅行記はあと数日で終了します。Alaska trip journal goes on for a few more days.

旅に出てから10日目、そしてあいにくの雨。この日はインディペンデンス金鉱州立歴史公園を訪れました。 It was the 10th day since the Alaska trip started, and it was raining. We visited Independence Mine State Historical Park on that day.

気ままに一人で歩きたくなって、他の人たちがガイドツアーをしていある間、気ままに一人でトレイルを散策しました。 While other people were taking the guided tour of the park, I wandered around and explored on my own.

雨に濡れて、野草が美しい。10種類ほどの植物の写真を撮ました。その中から、２種、ここに載せます。The wild flowers and plants were so pretty in the rain. I took about 10 different plant pictures. But for now, I want to show you two of them.

シトカ カノコソウです。小さな花を花束のようにたくさん付けて、雨で暗くなった空の下、白さが際立ち魅せられます。 This is Sitka Valerian. Under the dark rain clouds, the clustered tiny white flowers stand out.

近寄って見ると、雨の滴が落ちそうで落ちない。なんだか私の心を温かくしてくれました。 When I looked closely, I found rain drops had almost fallen down but were still there. Such a sight made my heart warm.

花が散った後には、こんな丸いものがついています。これは花の実でしょうか？この花は、アラスカから南はカリフォルニアまでの高原地帯に咲いているそうです。 After the flowers fell off, it formed dark purplish round things like in the picture below. Are they fruits or seeds? This flower lives on high mountain ranges from Alaska to California.

こちらはアラスカの野草、チシマフウロです。ゼラニウムの一種ですが、高山に生息します。雨の中だと花はみんなより綺麗に見えます。 This is an Alaskan wildflower, the Woolly Cranesbill. It is in the Geranium family and lives in high mountains. It’s magical that the rain transforms all the flowers to be even more beautiful.

雨水が無数に生えた毛に付いて、美味しそう。 Is it strange to say that it looks yummy, like a candy with rain drops on the tiny hairs on the flower buds?

散策中、ピョンピョン飛んだり歩いたり、私の歩く後をついて来てくれたキガシラシトドです。一緒に花の観察をしてくれて、ありがとう！ This is a Golden-crowned sparrow. It hopped and walked, and followed me while I was wandering around. Thank you for observing flowers together with me!
