パウエル湖の北、グランドステアケース エスカランテを南下し、ビッグウォーターに向かうオフロードから見える岩壁は、夕日を浴びると神々しい姿に変身します。 The rocks along the road from Grand Staircase-Escalante to Lake Powell changed their look drastically when the sunset light hit them. They were divine.

まるで金でできているように輝いていました。 They were shining like they were made out of gold.

パウエル湖は人気スポットなのに、この日は誰もいない。私たちだけでこの黄金郷を独占です。 Lake Powell is a popular spot, but we didn’t find anyone yesterday. We had the El Dorado (Golden land) all to ourselves.

月が見えてきました。 The moon had come up already.

夕日をどこで見ようか迷っている間に、太陽はスピードを増して沈んでいきます。 We were looking for a place where we could wait for the sunset, but couldn’t find a place. In the meantime, the sun was going down so quickly.

サイドミラーを見ると、同じ岩壁がほんの少しだけ光っています。 When I looked in the side mirror, the same rock we passed by before was shining only on the top portion of it.

もう、ここしかない！ This was it.

日が暮れてから1時間ぐらい、空の色が変わっていくのを観察しました。 For about an hour after the sunset, we observed how the sky was changing.

ピンクに染まった雲が高く登って行った月を追いかけて、ダンスをしている様でした。 The clouds, painted in pink, were dancing and chasing the moon as it went up higher.
