何度も洗って縮んでしまった父のセーターですが、私にはちょうどいいサイズになりました。だからこの4年間、山歩きには欠かさず着て行ったり、予備の防寒具として持ち歩いていました。This was my dad’s sweater. It shrunk a lot during the numerous washes, so it became the perfect size for me. I wore it pretty much every time I went out hiking for the last 4 years. Even when I didn’t wear it, I carried it as an emergency sweater.

このセーターを着て凍える冬山を何度経験したことでしょう。経験豊富なセーターなんです。I wonder how many times I experienced the severe winter hikes with this sweater in rough environments. It’s a very well worn sweater.

だから損傷がひどく、数えてみたら大小、10箇所以上の穴や綻びを発見しました。やはりリタイアさせてあげたほうがいい時が来たようです。Because of that, I found a total of 10 damaged areas, holes and torn spots. So I decided to retire it.

父の他界から4年と3ヶ月が経ちました。その間、暖かく守ってくれたセーター、ありがとう！ It’s been four years and three months since my dad was deceased. Since then, the sweater kept me warm and protected me from cold weather. Thank you Dad’s sweater for all these years!

これからは父の形見としてもらってきたもう一つの品、深いワインカラーのマフラーの出番です。これも山歩きには重宝しそうです。From now on, I will use his wine red scarf for hikes. I got it as well four years ago as his keepsake.

父と一緒にいろいろな場所に行った思い出が蘇ってきました。父の他界後は、セーターと共に更にいろいろな所に行きました。これからこのマフラーでどんな所に行く事になるのでしょう。The memory of my dad and places where we went together came back to me while writing this blog. I went to many places with his sweater. I wonder where I will go with this scarf from now on.
