昨日、山歩きの後、バンちゃんは買い物へ行ったので、一人で片付けをしようとランドリールームを行ったり来たり。でも、何かが足元で動いているような気配がしたので、ふと見ると・・・ヘビ！！！After we came back from a wilderness trip yesterday, Banchan went out for errands, so I was alone tidying up here and there. Going back and forth around the laundry room, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something moving. So I looked down. A snake was there!!!

ギャ~~~~! Arrrrgggghhhh!

ユルユルと動いていたヘビが私の絶叫に敏感に反応して動きが速くなりました。蛇にも耳があるのかぁと感心しながらも、恐怖の叫びを止める事ができませんでした。As soon as it heard my scream, the snake’s slow movement changed to a faster flight response. I simply couldn’t stop screaming even though, in the back of my mind, I was impressed that a snake could hear things.

バンちゃんが帰って来たので、早速捕獲作業です。As soon as Banchan came back home, he started the snake search and capture.

10分後、無事に捕獲し、空き地に連れ出す事ができました。そして、初めてヘビにご対面。ゴンゾー君です。10 minutes passed, and Banchan successfully captured the snake. Then he brought it out to a bushy open space. Only then could I meet the snake. This is Gonzo the snake.

ゴーファースネークなので、ゴンゾーと名付けました。Because he is a Gopher Snake, I named it Gonzo.

しばらくゴミ箱の中を試行錯誤していましたが、ついに上の方まで出て来る事ができました。Gonzo was exploring here and there in the bucket for a while before he found the top.

「ゴンゾー、外の方がずっと気持ちがいいんだから、家の中には入って来てはいけないよ！」と言って別れを告げました。I watched him slithering away and said, “Gonzo, don’t come inside the house. You feel so much better out here.”
