アートショーの結果が昨夜発表されました。　Results for the Art Show were announced last night.

残念ながら、私の写真は選ばれませんでした。　Unfortunately, my photos were not selected.

審査員。　 The Judge

昨日は流石にガックリして、落ち込みました。　Yesterday, of course, I was disappointed and depressed.

200-300点ぐらいの中から選ばれた最優秀賞作品。鉛筆画。　The Grand Prize winner was selected from about 200-300 entries. Pencil drawing.

でも、だんだんわかってきました。　But I am beginning to understand.

受賞者は全部で6名。その中にバンちゃんの写真も選ばれました。　　Besides the Grand Prize winner, there was one winner for each of 5 categories. Banchan’s photo was selected in the photography category.

技術的な面をもう少し向上させた方がいい。　The technical aspects should be improved a little more.

どうやら、テーマをどこまで追求できたかということも大切らしい。　It is also important to enter pictures that fit the theme well.

雨あがりの朝。 The morning after rain

今朝 This morning

1時間ぐらい北上して、パインバレーマウンテンの中の小さな集落に行きました。 About an hour north, we went to a small settlement in the Pine Valley Mountains.

雪の中の運転は怖かったんですが、行ってみると、やっぱり気持ちが良かったです。　Driving in the snow was scary, but when we got there, it was pleasant indeed.

ここで放牧されてる馬の写真を撮りたかったんですが、雪がぱらついていたので、やっぱり厩舎の中に入ってました。 It feels nice. I wanted to take a picture of the horses grazing here, but there was a sprinkling of snow, so they were still in the stables.

美しい景色を見ていたら、気分も落ち着いてきました。　The beautiful scenery calmed me down.

また、勉強して仕切り直しですね。　I’m going to study again and start over.

そして、何はともあれ、私は写真が好きなんだから、そんな好きな事をするだけなんだという結論に達しました。　And I came to the conclusion that, at any rate, I love photography, so I just do what I love to do and enjoy it.

3度目のアートショー My Third Art Show

去年の末に2回、アートショーに作品応募しましたが、入賞しませんでした。　I entered my work in two art shows at the end of last year but did not win a prize.

今週の水曜日に、再び応募します。　I will enter another art show this Wednesday.

今回のショーのテーマは “My Favorite” （私のお気に入り）です。そして、こちらがわたしが選んだ3点です。　The theme of this show is “My Favorite”. And here are the three pieces I chose.

ザイオン国立公園の冬景色、”Snow 雪”、アリゾナ州北部の丘の風景と鱗雲の”Salmon Filet サーモンの切り身” 、そして題名に苦しんだもう一点、嵐が来る前の一瞬の光を受けた雑草、”The Last Light 最後の光” です。　 “Snow,” a winter scene in Zion National Park; “Salmon Filet,” a hillside landscape and scaly clouds in northern Arizona; and “The Last Light,” a weed that caught the light moments before the storm hit.

必要な書類に記入して、出品料も払い、パッキングもして、準備完了です。　I have filled out the necessary forms, paid the exhibit fee, packed, and they are ready to go.

結果は今週末にわかることになっています。３度目の何とかと言いますから、ちょっと期待します。 We are supposed to find out the results Friday of this coming week. There is a saying, “third time’s a charm”, so I’m kind of hoping.
