ランニングベストを購入しました。 I bought a running vest.

写真、右上に見えるのはウエストに着装する軽いハイキング用のベルトです。今まではそれを走る時に使っていましたが、しっかり固定することが出来ないので気になって仕方がありませんでした。 I’ve been using a light hiking belt for running all this time. See the black thing at the upper right on the picture above. But I don’t like it because it bounces a lot when I run.

もうレースまで2週間もない今、ランニングのプロが使いそうなベストを買うってどうなの？と、躊躇していました。でも、その道を極めた人がデザインした製品は、予想を超えた着装感です。調整可能なバンジーコードがベストを体にピタッと固定してくれて、ジャンプしても全然動かない。 I hesitated to buy this vest because I won’t be using it much until race day, only two weeks away. Yet, this vest looked so good for a running pro, though not for a beginner like me. But when I tried it on, it fit perfectly for me because of the controllable bungee cords. It didn’t move around even when I jumped up and down. It exceeded my expectations, and I thought this is done by people who wanted to create the best.

水はソフトボトルを2本、ベストの前のポケットに入れることが出来ます。また、水バッグを背中に入れることも可能で、トータル5リットルも運ぶことが可能です。 I can put one soft bottle in each front pocket. I can also put a water bag in the back and a tube. It’s possible to carry 5 liters total.

私はせいぜい200mLあれば十分なので、ソフトボトルを片方に入れ、もう片方には携帯を入れてみました。また、エネルギージェルも即飲めるよう、2番目のポケットに入れました。さらに小さなポケットにはハンカチと飴を入れてみました。10-15km走るなら、これで十分です。 For me, I need only 200mL for a run. So I put one soft bottle in one side of the pocket, and my cell phone in the other side. I added an energy gel in the outer pocket, and put a handkerchief and candy in the smallest pockets. This is it for a 10 – 15 km run.

背中には水バッグを入れてもいいし、その他諸々何でも構わないんです。私は水バッグからチューブを通して水を飲むオプションは好きではなかったので、ベストの前のポケットからソフトボトルを出さずに飲めるオプションも気に入って購入しました。 The back pocket can hold anything you like besides a water bag. I don’t like the option of drinking water through a tube. But I do like the idea of drinking from a soft bottle without taking it out from the pocket. This is another point that I like about this vest.

すでに2回使いました。一回目はランニング、そして2回目はハイキング。なんとハイキングにも十分使えるんですね。日帰りのハイキングならこのベストがあればバックパックは必要ありません。私の中のパラダイムシフトとなりました。レース当日は使いませんが、それまでのトレーニング、そしてこれからのハイキングに大いに活躍してくれそうです。 I have used this vest for one run and one hike. It worked for both. If it’s a day hike, I can easily go with only this vest without a backpak. It was my paradigm shift. I won’t use it for the race, but I will use it for the remaining training. I already know that the vest will be very useful for my future hikes.
