旅の5日目の早朝、Minnetonka 洞窟に行きました。マスクをしながらの洞窟内の上り下りは意外に大変で、あまりエンジョイできませんでした。- On the 5th day of our trip, we went to Minnetonka cave. It was much tougher than I expected to go up and down inside the cave with a mask on. So I couldn’t enjoy the tour that much.

午後、気を取り直し、私たちはベアーレイクの北にある野生保護区に行きました。- So for a change, we went to Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in the afternoon.

久しぶりに見る鳥たちに魅了され、時間はあっという間に過ぎて行きました。- The time passed by so fast because we enjoyed the fresh air (no masks) and birds.

ここは前回のブログに書きましたが、昔5.2千万年前、巨大な湖があった場所の一部でもあります。- This area used to also be a part of the large lake around 52 million years ago (I wrote about it on the last blog post).

でも、鳥たちはそんなこと、どうでもいいんですよね。だから、私たちも無心に鳥を追いかけました。そんな時間が私たちを幸せにしてくれました。- But it doesn’t matter to birds, so we simply chased birds with our cameras without any thoughts in mind. And it made us feel good.

ここで2種の鳥に出会いました。でも、それは次回のお楽しみです。- We saw two kinds of birds here, but I will write about them in the following posts.

ここから少し南、ソルトレイクシティーの北にはベアリバー渡り鳥保護区があります。実はそこに行きたかったのですが、時間切れです。次回のお楽しみですね。- We’ve been thinking about going to Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, a little south of here, and a little north of Salt Lake City, but we ran out of time. It will return to my bucket list of places yet to go.
